Manufacturer's prime focus is to produce the product they happen to be producing, be it plastic or metal components or finished products of whatever shape or form. Maintenance of machinery making these products is regarded as a necessary evil, which has to be done on a more or less regular bases.
Any machinery has wear and tear and the resultant wear particles collect in the lubrication fluid. Machinery ordinarily have in-line filtration which removes particles in the 10 and above micron level However, the real damage to machinery are caused by particles in the .5 to 2 micron level. While in-line filtration systems exist in the below 10 micron range, they invariably include expensive filtration solutions.
As a result of the wear and tear. manufacturers replace the lubricant with "new" lubricant as per the machine supplier's specifications. This is not only expensive in mere cash terms but also have a loss of production component which may in some instances more costly than the cost of replacing the oil.
